Gemma's Approach

Gemma Morley is a Registered Psychologist with over ten years of experience in supporting children, adolescents and adults. Throughout her career, Gemma has worked in a variety of settings, including primary and secondary schools, non-profit agencies, and private practice. Recently, she transitioned to working full-time in private practice, where she continues to dedicate herself to helping individuals navigate their unique challenges. Gemma has a natural ability to connect with adolescents and adults, creating a safe and supportive environment that encourages them to explore and address their issues openly.

Gemma particularly enjoys working with adolescents and young adults, recognising the unique challenges they face during these formative years and the transition to adulthood and increased independence. She believes in the importance of involving families in the therapeutic process, educating parents about adolescent development, and providing guidance to help them support their children through this often challenging period. Gemma is also a strong advocate for young people within school environments, collaborating with wellbeing staff to ensure that both learning and wellbeing needs are met.

Gemma also has a special interest in helping parents navigate the challenges of parenthood. Whilst adolescents and the transition into adulthood may be the first challenging season of life, becoming a parent may be the hardest season of life. The early parenting years are filled with sleepless nights, a shifting sense of identity, changes to relationship dynamics and significant changes to your social life. On top of all that, there's the huge responsibility of bringing up another human being and guiding them through life. Everyone needs support at different stages of their parenting journey.

In her practice, Gemma tailors her approach to the individual needs and goals of each young person she works with. She employs a combination of therapeutic techniques, often utilising Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma informed and schema approaches. This flexible and client-centered approach allows Gemma to provide the most effective support for each individual, helping them to develop the skills and resilience needed to thrive.
